As the world changes around us, the skill of empathy only increases with advances in technology and relationship building. At Ashoka Changemakers, we believe it’s a foundational element to the social, teamwork and leadership skills required to contribute successfully to society. On the heels of an amazing competition, which brought together more than 600 contributors from around the world, we are continuing to bring the Empathy and Education community together through our Google+ Hangouts series.
Please join us by tuning in to our Community Page for updates and info!
Watch our first Hangout featuring four exceptional panelists: Luis Camargo from Organización para la Educación y Protección Ambiental in Colombia; Natalie Christensen and Nathan McTague from Feeleez in Montana, USA; and Ira Liss from AOK.tv in California, USA -- moderated by Jen Ko of Ashoka Changemakers. They shared with us their challenges in working to bring empathy into schools and communities, while also addressing questions from the viewers on their own venture challenges.
This past week we were lucky to have three more panelists join us in spreading their innovation inspiration, as well as touch on topics of role models and even give feedback to a viewer.
We believe that entrepreneurs are fundamental to spurring change and finding innovative ways to improve communities. These Hangouts are a way to showcase and share within the Empathy network.
Please join us this Friday, February 15th for our third Hangout: Learning from Newtown at 10 am PST/1 am EST. We will be talking about how empathy does (or does not?) have a role in preventing future events such as the recent school tragedies rocking the media, as well as what programs are effective in helping combat physical/verbal violence.
See you in the community!
